Holiday Hunger Flight

Save the date for our seventh annual Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018. From open to close, all Barro’s Pizza locations will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from store sales to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. The proceeds will help diminish the number of Arizonans battling hunger during the holidays.

Barro’s Pizza is continuing this fundraiser to give back to the Arizona community that has given us so much love and support during the past 30-plus years. Last year, all Barro’s Pizza locations combined raised over $250,000 in just one day for St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, which provided more than 2 million meals to the hungry in Arizona. This year, the goal is to surpass that number to feed even more families in Arizona during the holidays.

Eat a little, help a lot!
• One large pizza = 70 meals
• One order of wings = 42 meals
• One side salad = 25 meals
• One fountain drink = 13 meals

“With the help of our community, I am confident that this year Barro’s will surpass the $1 million goal during our annual Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight for St. Mary’s,” said Ken Barro, owner of Barro’s Pizza. “We encourage our customers to buy lunch or dinner for family, friends, co-workers, whomever, to help us reach this goal. Every order placed can feed many of our local families. Eat a little, help a lot!”

The Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight is named after the matriarch of the Barro family, Doran, who the family lost in 2016. The issue of hunger in Arizona and around the world was very important to Doran. She took on this effort with the support of her family and friends, but most importantly, with the support of the Barro’s customers who participate each year. The Barro family chose to continue this fundraiser in her honor, which is St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance’s largest cause-marketing effort of the year.

“As we provide more than 250,000 meal each day to the hungry of Arizona, St. Mary’s Food Bank has enjoyed incredible support from the Barro family over the years,” St. Mary’s President and CEO Tom Kertis said. “This special day of giving comes from their heart and in honor of their mom, Doran Barro, who instilled the importance of helping others and giving back in her family. She loved to feed people and so does St. Mary’s! We invite everyone to visit Barro’s Pizza on Dec. 4 and help Barro’s set a new record in 2018.”

During the past six years, Barro’s Pizza has raised more than $950,000 which has provided almost 7 million meals for Arizona families in need. Going into this seventh year of fundraising, Barro’s Pizza is hoping to make it another record-breaking year by bringing in more customers for a great cause.
