Barro’s Pizza – Official Pizza Sponsor of Chandler Youth Football Pop Warner!
Barro’s Pizza is now the Official Pizza Sponsor of Chandler Youth Football Pop Warner. To kick off the new partnership, CYFPW interviewed Chandler restaurant locations owner, Ken Barro to learn about our passion for supporting the community.
CYFPW: How long has Barro’s been in the Valley?
Ken Barro: Our family came to Arizona in 1980 and opened our first restaurant in Mesa. My brothers and I have expanded the company into 35 locations over the last 35 years, with two locations being right here in Chandler. The Riggs & McQueen and Alma School & Germann locations are two of the restaurants that I own.
CYFPW: Why did you choose to become a sponsor of CYFPW?
Ken Barro: Being a part of the community is something that myself and my brothers all feel is very important. We are locally and family owned and operated, so we truly believe that supporting the organizations that our customers are a part of make our community stronger. My sons all played football so the sport has been a part of our family’s life through the years.
CYFPW: What are some additional things that you do in the community?
Ken Barro: The biggest event that has become an annual tradition is our Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight. On the first Tuesday in December of each year, all 35 of our locations donate 100% of the proceeds from that day to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. Last year, we raised over 1.1 million meals for the organization. Food is obviously a big part of our family’s business, so this cause seemed like a natural fit for us to be a part of.
Throughout the year, our restaurants also hold multiple school and church fundraisers, sponsor school and youth sports teams, and donate to fundraisers.
CYFPW: What is Barro’s Pizza known for other than their community work?
Ken Barro: Our restaurants have been successful because of the great customers that we have. Our customers come back time and time again not only because of our pizza (which we make with our secret family sauce, fresh California mozzarella, high end meats and crisp vegetables), wings and pasta, but because of our family friendly restaurant interiors. Our restaurants are a place to come enjoy a night out with your family, watch a sports game with friends and celebrate a special occasion with a large group. This family atmosphere is what makes coming to work every day worth it.
CYFPW: Thank you again for becoming a sponsor of our youth football organization. Anything else you would like to share?
Ken Barro: Go CYFPW!
