Barro’s Pizza is excited to announce that the winner of the 2020 Arizona Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway is local Glendale student, Reyes Rendon. The $10,000 prize money was available to one local resident to help pay college tuition or any related educational expenses.

Rendon is 18 years old, born and raised in the West Valley and now resides in Glendale. Currently a freshman, studying nutrition at Estrella Mountain Community College, he would like to pursue an education in health and fitness and hopes to open his own personal training business. When he’s not in class, he works at Ahipoki Bowl in Avondale.

“I am very thankful to be the Barro’s Pizza Dr Pepper scholarship winner, I believe in making the most out of every opportunity and this is one I will for sure make the most of, said Reyes Rendon.” “I am going to use the money to further my education in health and fitness.”

With 44 restaurants throughout Arizona and 40 years in business, the Barro family prides itself on finding ways to support and improve the communities they serve. “Having a college degree will open a lot of doors for students like Reyes, but it is also a huge financial burden for families,” said Mike Barro, co-owner of Barro’s Pizza. “We are proud to support Arizona students pursue their dreams through our continued partnership with Dr Pepper.”

The Barro’s Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway has awarded $85,000 to students in Arizona since 2012. Submissions were open to all Arizona residents 18 year or older, and a winner was chosen at random out of approximately 20,000 online and text-to-win entries.  The winner can use the money to pay for current expenses such as tuition and books or to pay off outstanding student loans.
